Etarmis- the new name for Pi


When we launched our new system Pi in 2009, we wanted a name that would be simple and easy to remember.

However, from speaking to our customers, we found that since Pi the mathematical symbol is so well known it meant that it was very difficult to find information about our system- particularly on the Internet using search engines. If you search for Pi on the Internet, you will see the problem- it returns over 367 million results!

It was also felt that since Pi was just a name and did not mean anything, it was not particularly relevant.

We have spent the last few months speaking to our customers about a replacement- and we are pleased to announce that the new name for Pi is Etarmis.

Why Etarmis?

Etarmis stands for Employee Time and Absence Recording Management Information System.

Etarmis is far more than a time and attendance recording system. It is a full Management Information System, and we wanted a name that would reflect this. Etarmis is designed to link to HR and other business-critical systems to provide realtime time recording and absence analysis. Etarmis also has a fully configurable interface which allows us to customise the system, whatever your requirements.

Over the past few years, many of our customers have moved away from small independent systems to large single systems that are available throughout their organisation. Etarmis can handle unlimited numbers of employees working across multiple offices, remotely or even from home. It is fully compatible with the Matrix access control system from Dorma and is designed to provide a complete one-card solution for time recording and access control.

Instead of having to carry a large number of cards, employees can now have a single card that acts as their Photo ID, records the hours that they work and controls access throughout the multiple buildings in the organisation. Using the latest smart card technology, the same card can also be used with other card based systems within your organisation- such as photocopiers, printers and cashless vending.
